Ok confession time. I honestly can’t remember anything about any of the earlier Preston siblings' books. Like I vaguely remember their names and I get de ja vu moments at certain things, but I read this book as a standalone. Which luckily the author did say could be done except for the potential spoilers for the previous couples. And when I went to check my reading status of the other books before I started reading this, I saw they are all 5 star reads for me. And this author has never let me down with all of the feels.
But like I said I went into this with no clue what I was getting, and I was instantly obsessed with both Liam and Addie. The only downside was that it took me so long to read this book because I couldn’t just pick it up for 5 minutes in the school pick up line. Every second chapter had me literally bawling my eyes out. And half the time I was smiling or laughing through giggles and the other half I was struggling to read through the tears.
From the outside looking in Liam Preston has a charmed life. Despite his mother's passing he had a large close-knit family who were more than financially comfortable. But it just goes to show that you never know what is going on in other people’s lives. And the fact that he took the time to hear Addie out and let all his fears come to light just showed how strong and kind he was.
But Addie. OMG Addie. Every time we got another layer of her story my heart kept wondering how much more it could take. And every time I wanted to be mad at her for the harm she caused Liam when they were younger, she would explain her side of the same event and I just wanted to wrap her in a hug and fight all her demons. Luckily, she didn’t need me to with all the amazing people she had on her side.
I can’t wait to get the next book, especially after that teaser at the end. And I really think the next time I have a few kid free days and a bottle of wine and tub of ice-cream I need to do a series reread because this book wrecked me in the absolute best ways.
