Never trust a man who wears nothing more than a cowboy hat and ripped jeans who asks if you’d like to save a horse and ride a . . . well, you get the picture.

That should’ve been enough for me to walk away.

I’ve been warned on several occasions about southern men—with their sexy accents, charming manners, and the ability to easily get any woman in bed—which is something I’ll be avoiding.

Being a professional photographer has many perks—traveling around the world, calling all the shots, and working with subject matter that isn’t bad to look at—but Colton Langston with his washboard abs and baby blue eyes, could care less about my current project. He’s trouble, I know it, and he’s determined to make me work for every single photo. When I’m forced into riding lessons, I get way more than I ever bargained for, and by the time my trip is over, I’m in too deep.

Being with him was thrilling, but falling for him was unpredictable.
And ignoring him will be impossible.

This book was so much sweetness and love. I couldn’t put it down. From the first page I was drawn into it. And other than a few small moments I read the whole book with a huge smile on my face filled with warm fuzzies and so damn grateful to be given this ARC to review.

It’s no surprise that I loved it, I am such a massive fan of Aurora’s writing and I especially love her over the top alphas in her until series but these ones are the perfect counterbalance to those. We still get the awesome characters and a growly, possessive alpha, I just find there’s a little less OTTness, if you know what I mean.

Courtney was such a sweetheart and despite everything that her ex-husband had put her through she wasn’t the least bit bitter or guarded. Lucas was the perfect partner for her and of course I immediately fell for the sexy single dad. But the star of the show for me was Madeline.

This is the type of book you keep on your bedside table to read over and over. Loved It

I was over it.

Then I got my next assignment.

He’s Hollywood’s bad boy.

He works hard, and he plays even harder.

He’s rude, he’s condescending, and he’s made it known he doesn’t want me on the tour.

With one month on the road with him, two things might happen

One, I may never work in this industry again.

Two, I may just be like everyone else and fall for Hollywood’s Playboy.

When her nose isn't buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she's in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. It's a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn't listen to her...

I am having a really hard time trying to figure out how to rate this book. And to be honest I am not really surprised. See Harper Sloan has been an insta buy for me for the entire Bleeding Hearts and Corps Security series, I love her writing and her alpha heroes. But I read a few reviews that were less than flattering and I just didn’t connect with the blurb so I put it off until the what do I read now dilemma hit for the millionth time and for some reason this was the book that jumped out at me as I flicked through the stupid crazy amount of books on my kindle.

So you would think after reading it I would know how many stars to give the book but I just can’t get my head around a few contradictory things. First it has so many elements I love and they are done so well. Plus it has a heap of the awesomeness that can be expected from Harper. And the twists and turns kept me guessing until nearly the end. And all of that would normally make this a no brainer 5 star read.

Problem solved you would think except I read 30% of it before I fell asleep last night and when I picked up my kindle I couldn’t really remember what I had read. See the way it was written was kind of convoluted and I got a little lost in parts. I think it was written that way to add to the overall mystery but for me it just made it hard to get into, or maybe it wasn’t the book and it’s just my brain being tired from baby not sleeping and Christmas over lapping. Either way I just didn’t really connect with the beginning of the book.

But as I got further along this morning I forgot about my issues with the first 30% and got invested in Ari and Thorn. I loved them and I loved that there was no relationship drama since Thorn was an absolutely perfect growling, chest beating alpha. Oh and Ari more than held her own in the well developed, easy to love characters. Throw in some great secondary characters and an arsehole cat and my little heart was happy.

So how do I rate it? A 4 feels like it isn’t enough for how invested I was in Thorn and Ari but a 5 feels like too much for a book I wasn’t massively obsessed with from the first word. So I think I will give it a four and see if it plays on my mind over the next few days or weeks while I stalk Harper to see when we are getting more of this series.

So I have discovered that my taste in books has changed quite a bit over the last few years, a lot of it I noticed but some of those changes have snuck up on me with me being very quietly in denial over it. But today I had this massive aha moment. See there I was on a plane with four hours stretching in front of me and a kindle full of books and no idea what to read. First world problems for sure. But with everything in airplane mode and having put half of the books on my kindle years ago I was honestly lost. I couldn’t read anything that would have me a blubbering mess (half my kindle) and I didn’t want anything that would have me noticeably squirming in my seat (a quarter of my kindle) so those books were narrowing down fast.

Then I saw Lick. I LOVE Kylie Scott. My friends LOVE the Stage Dive series. Why haven’t I read it anytime over the last five and a half years? Well I had to admit it, the thought of a rock star romance freaked me out. The last few (dozen) I read when I was obsessed with them had groupies and such and I have gotten soft. I want romance and love, not random skank banging on buses. Now before you crucify me I knew that wasn’t the case here but I had a mental block that I had no choice but to hurdle today.

And I am so freaking glad I did. David and Evelyn were just what I needed. The book made my flight fly and I actually held up disembarking to finish my chapter only to jump straight on my hotel bed and dive back in. The whole book had a great mix of lust, love, drama, angst and just all around great writing. But I still have to steel myself to read the rest of the series. Which feels so unnatural to me since it should be a no brainer. God I annoy me.

Anyway this is supposed to be about Lick and not about my pending insanity. So, David, damn just the thought of him makes me a little squirmy. I could feel the pheromones wafting off him. But OMG why are men such idiots? Seriously? I wanted to flick him in the forehead so he could try pull his head out of his arse. And Ev was so much stronger than I expected. But then I hold grudges and am stupidly stubborn so maybe she is just more forgiving and mature than me.

I am so in lust with Mal. And since I read the Dive Bar series I have this burning desire to read his book even though I can’t actually remember why the feeling was so strong from the minute his name was written so maybe I best get those big girl panties and try dive back into the rest of the series. But for now I am going to go to sleep thinking about David’s shirtless cuddles.

 Excerpt

Riley Banks hurried down Thirty-Seventh Street in her red Catherine Malandrino dress and Giuseppe Zanotti leopard-print, calf-hair pumps. It was the week after Thanksgiving, and Manhattan was buzzing with the feverish zeal of the holidays.  Riley slowed her pace to catch her breath. Tomorrow I’ll find the courage to take the subway. Maybe. She tugged her coat tighter across her chest to ward off the chilly air and silently hoped that nobody would figure out that she’d purchased her outfit on Outnet.com, an online designer outlet store. She felt like such a hypocrite, heading to her first day at her new job as one of world-renowned designer Josh Braden’s assistants wearing discounted clothing. The thought turned her stomach—but not as much as showing up in her hometown jeans and cowgirl boots would have. She was a long way from Weston, Colorado, and she’d spent the last few weeks gathering discount designer clothes and practicing omitting “y’all” from her vocabulary.

She stood before the thick glass door of Josh Braden Designs and took a deep breath. The sign above the door read, JBD. This is it. She closed her eyes for a split second to repeat the mantra she’d been playing in her mind like a broken record for weeks: I’m educated, knowledgeable, and eager. I can do this.

A warm hand on her lower back pulled her from her thoughts.

“Have any trouble finding us?” Josh Braden stood beside her with a friendly smile and perfectly shorn, thick dark hair. His black Armani suit fit his lean, muscular frame perfectly. A few years earlier, he’d been named one of America’s Most Eligible Bachelors. Back then she hadn’t given the magazine cover a second thought. He was in New York, and she was back in Colorado, so far removed from him that she’d still thought of him as Josh Braden, the boy she’d had a crush on for too many years to count. Now, standing on the streets of New York City beside the man whose name rivaled Vera Wang, she felt the air sucked from her lungs.

His deep voice sent a shiver right through her. Not only had she had the good fortune to be reconnected with Josh when he was back home visiting his family, but during his visit, the two of them had also spent a few days getting reacquainted. Riley hadn’t been sure if it was her crush going haywire or if there was something more real blossoming between them, but those few days had each felt a little more intimate than the last. And while their lips never touched and their bodies remained apart, she’d felt like they were always one breath away from falling into each other’s arms.

Well it’s no secret if Sarina Bowen writes it I will read it so obviously I had to read overnight sensation. And obviously I loved it. But when it comes to reviewing them I almost feel like I should be able to write Sarina Bowen wrote it, Enough said!!! Apparently it’s not so here goes.

This book is another one of the Brooklyn Bruisers series and it definitely lived up to the high expectations of the series, that said if you’re crazy and haven’t devoured the rest of the books as they were released it can be read as a standalone.

I went into this one expecting a lot more drama from reading the blurb and I was so happy to discover it was fairly light on the drama. There was still so much emotion and in true Sarina Bowen style I felt every ounce of it. I cried at moments, thankfully not huge ugly tears but then I was smiling again soon after.

Heidi was sweet and I loved that she wanted to stand on her own two feet without being set on being ragingly independent. She accepted help where it was offered and she enjoyed being looked after and pampered and it just made her feel more authentic. Yeah it’s nice to know your own strength and be respected for it but who doesn’t like being treated like a princess occasionally?

Jason wasn’t as closed off as I was expecting and I like that with the way this was written it almost felt a little bit like insta love, even though we know Jason has been dancing around Heidi for months. Everything he had gone through was so huge in making him who he was, but in the end he didn’t let it define him and his future. And even though he stumbled and made a few mistakes he owned them and fixed them quickly, which just made me love him even more.

The secondary characters who we already know and love if we have read the story were as awesome as always and I love love love that they play a large part in the story but are still background characters. But damn does it make me antsy to get some of the new stories.

So I guess in closing yes this book was awesome, yes you should read it now.

The New York Times bestselling author of Pucked and The Good Luck Charm delivers a Hollywood happily-ever-after where a famous heartthrob falls for his ultimate fangirl in this sexy standalone romantic comedy.

Talk about an embarrassing introduction. On her first day of law school, Kailyn ran - quite literally - into the actor she crushed on as a teenager, ending with him sprawled on top of her. Mortified to discover the Daxton Hughes was also a student in her class, her embarrassment over their meet-cute quickly turned into a friendship she never expected. Of course, she never saw his betrayal coming either...

Now, eight years later, Dax is in her office asking for legal advice. Despite her anger, Kailyn can't help feeling sorry for the devastated man who just became sole guardian to his thirteen-year-old sister. But when her boss gets wind of Kailyn's new celebrity client, there's even more at stake than Dax's custody issues: if she gets Dax to work at their firm, she'll be promoted to partner.

The more time Kailyn spends with Dax and his sister, the more she starts to feel like a family, and the more she realizes the chemistry they had all those years ago is as fresh as ever. But will they be able to forgive the mistakes of the past, or will one betrayal lead to another?

I crawled into Ryan Jensen’s bed that first night by accident.

I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister’s bed—her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should've left...

I didn’t.
I didn’t jump out.
I didn’t get embarrassed.
I relaxed.
And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved.

I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept.

The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could've stayed forever, I would have.
He became my sanctuary.

Because—four hours earlier—my twin sister killed herself.

I wasn’t going to do a review for this one. I actually don’t even know how I came to read it. I was looking for something to read on GoodReads and this was one of several I loaded onto my kindle and when I sat down and opened my kindle I just started reading it.

And I enjoyed it, I just didn’t love it. But that could be me and the mood I have been in recently. I know what I want to read and it isn’t anything I seem to be able to find at the moment, or maybe even if I did find it, it would be wrong. So anyway the issue is with me and not the book, I am pretty sure.

I just didn’t really like Kennedy. I got where she was coming from but she just came across as too much for me. I expected the secrets in her closet to be more than they actually were with the way she was running around waving her girl power banner. She was so sure everyone was out to use her she didn’t let anyone get close to her. Don’t get me wrong I loved her take no bullshit attitude and how she stood up for the people she cared about I just didn’t click with her enough for my own satisfaction.

Shay I liked. He really was the best boyfriend. Maybe a little closed off but then Kennedy had so much going on I didn’t feel like it was ever not about her and I really would have liked it to be more about Shay.

Overall it was a good read, it just wasn’t what I particularly felt like reading right now and so I am off to start the search all over again.

I am in that mood where I desperately want to read a book, I have the time to read but nothing is appealing to me. I must have picked up and looked through the 2000 books on my kindle only to then go back to GoodReads and Kindle Unlimited and flick through them just to go back and do it all again. Because I don't know what I want to read but I know I don't want to read anything that I currently have to read. Until finally I came across Runaway Groom and it sounded fun and easy so I picked it up and was instantly hooked.

I knew I would enjoy it if I could get into it since I love Lauren Layne's writing, I just didn't know if I would be able to read it while I am in such a contrary mood. Then I forgot all about that issue and fell in love with Gage and Ellie. Their story wasn't your typical boy meets girl and yet I forgot that they were from such different worlds and got lost in the chemistry.

I loved that Ellie's reservations about being in a relationship with Gage were such normal girl issues and it instantly made me feel a sense of camaraderie with her. And even when I didn't like Gage's actions I really respected him for them and I admit I waited with baited breathe to see how it was going to all play out.

This was the perfect fun, flirty, sweet romance with a hit of emotion and a touch of angst and drama to keep me completely enthralled and dying to get my happily ever after and I read every word as if my day depended on it. Loved it.

I’m startled out of my thoughts when my brother jumps up and shouts a bunch of profane nonsense, hands flailing like he’s trying to swim on land, or approximate the chicken dance while on an LSD trip.

“You can’t do this! It’s absolute bullshit!” Armstrong yells.

I look around the table, trying to piece together what I missed.

“I’m sorry, Armstrong. I know this is a shock, but we feel it’s in the company’s best interest to put Lincoln at the helm during this transitional stage,” G-mom says firmly.

At the helm? I look to G-mom who’s busy not looking at me.

Armstrong jabs at finger at himself. “But I’m the one who’s put in all the time here! I deserve to run the company! Lincoln doesn’t know the first thing about Moorehead. All he knows how to do is dig wells and forage for food in the wilderness. How are those valuable assets here?” He turns his attention to our mother. “Did you know about this? How can you let this happen? Look at him. How can that be the face of our company? He looks like he crawled out of a gutter and mugged a twenty-year-old college kid on a bender. How is this better for our bottom line?”

My mother clasps her hands in front of her. “I’m sorry, Armstrong, but this decision wasn’t mine to make. I know this is hard for you, but your grandmother and fath—”

Armstrong stomps his foot, exactly as a toddler would. “The company is mine! Lincoln can’t have it!”

I raise a hand, half to quiet my brother and also to find out what the freaking deal is. “Whoa, let’s back this bus up. Can someone explain what’s going on?”

“You’ve been appointed as the CEO of Moorehead Media, according to the will,” Christophe—no R, because that would make it far too pedestrian a name—my father’s lawyer says.

I’m working on trying to remain calm as I address my grandmother. “You didn’t say anything about me being CEO. You said you needed my help.”

“Running the company, yes,” she says through a practiced, stiff smile.

It’s her warning face, but seriously, when she said she needed my help for a few months I figured it meant I’d be keeping Armstrong in line while she sorted out who was going to take over the company, which I realize now was a stupid assumption.

“I didn’t think that meant CEO. How am I going to run a company with this dickhead on staff?” I motion to my brother.

“The name calling is unnecessary,” G-mom replies.

“Lincoln’s not even part of this family! He hasn’t attended one event in the past five years except for Dad’s funeral. He didn’t bother coming to my wedding and now he’s going to run the company? How is that fair?”

I snort. “Your wedding was an expensive joke.”

He crosses his arms over his chest. “I was set up. Amalie had cold feet and made me out to look like the bad guy.”

The woman beside him shoots him disgusted look.

Armstrong clears his throat and tugs at his collar. “My wedding is not the real issue. The point is that you’ve never involved yourself in any part of this family and now you think you can come in and take over. I will not stand by and let this happen!” He keeps jabbing his finger at me, as if he’s engaged in a finger sword fight.

I lean back in my chair and lace my fingers behind my neck. Armstrong has always been reactive. And self-absorbed. For a while it seemed like he finally had it together—back when he was engaged. But ever since that fiasco of a wedding he seems to have come completely unglued. Again. But worse this time. “Someone needs a timeout.”

So absolutely everything about this book screams for me. First it’s co-written by Sarina Bowen, then you have a single parent and a man who is good with kids. I may as well hand over my ovaries with purchase cause you just know they are going to explode while reading this and yeah they really did.

Confession, I read the first book, loved it, never got around to the second book, read the blurb for this one and had to grabby hands it. Yeah I probably should have read them in order and to be honest the reason it took me so long to read this one was I felt like I HAD to read them in order but I just couldn’t get up much enthusiasm for the second book and it’s $5 price tage when I have 2000 books on my TBR and a heap of them are on Kindle Unlimited. And I love Kindle Unlimited right now.

Obviously this was so well written, and I don’t even think there was a single editing mistake or if there was I was so invested I didn’t notice it. The story was great and I couldn’t put it down from the first word.

Liam was such a sweetheart and I loved that he was so soft but so far from being a pussy he was amazing. He was exactly what Sadie and her twins needed. I really think if men knew what a turn on a good dad is the world would be overrun with sexy stay at home dads.

I loved that the kids were such a major part of the story. Most single parent books the kids are just chilling in the background and I often wonder when the author last spent time with kids especially 2 year olds. But damn Amy and Kate added so much to the story and not just the giggles.

This whole story had a load of laugh out loud moments that just added to the authenticity of the emotions. Everything about this book was amazing and it was worth every cent.

Blurb

The world's sexiest firefighter is about to get a second chance with the virgin next door…

He's bossy, arrogant, and so ridiculously hot he should come with a warning label and a pair of flame retardant coveralls.

He's also the boy who broke my heart when we were in high school.

I want to move in next door to Ryan O'Dell the way I want to be the virgin gamer geek suddenly in charge of running my sister's sex toy factory. Too bad both are written in my stars.

Yeah, I'm the world's oldest virgin code-writing nerd.

And he's the world's hottest firefighter.

And even though he intimidates the heck out of me, I can't seem to control my libido when he's around.

Where is my dignity? My self-respect? My panties?

Seriously…. Have you seen them? Anyone?

Maybe they're hiding in his bedroom. With my heart.

Yeah, I know. I'm hosed.

So hosed.

Hosed is a steamy, fun romantic comedy between a firefighter and the virgin nerd next door, complete with a pet raccoon, scandalous gossip, and dildo football. (No, really.) This romance has no cheating or cliffhangers, and ends with a banging hot happily ever after.
