I am a big fan of Megan Erickson, she has written some seriously hot books. And to be honest I actually kept getting caught on the title so when it popped up on KU I grabbed it. Sadly the editing is terrible and driving me completely insane. I want to pull out a bright red pen and scribble all over my kindle screen while screaming.

As for the story, well so far so good. It's a little wordy and I would love them to get to the point a bit faster and the editing is not helping that as every page has three or four spare words. Grrr.

I am loving Lavin and as it's all told in his POV we are seriously getting to see how sweet he is. Bianca is still a bit of a mystery but I guess we will get there.

And now that I have actually finished the book I  can safely say the characters were good. The secondary characters would make for some great stories of their own (wink wink, nudge nudge) and the story was good. I am a bit upset because it should have been great. It had all the elements to make it great but it just missed it.

That said I absolutely would read on if this did become a series and I even volunteer to edit it. And to be fair I am sure a lot of people could overlook the things that annoyed me to really love this book. For me, in my picky, cranky pre period bitchiness where even my family avoid me it made me a little stabby. But meh it was free and I liked it so 3.5 stars.

What’s a girl to do after being ditched at the altar by text message? That’s right. Text. Message.

How does she pick up the pieces and move on? I’m no Dear Abby but here’s a little free advice…

Advice #1 – First, purge your apartment of all things him—by tossing his belongings off the balcony.

Advice #2 – Do not, I repeat do not, throw anything out into the hallway because you’ll injure your hot new neighbor.

Advice #3 – When said neighbor brings over Chinese Food do not let him stay and keep you company. It’s awkward when you realize he’s your boss.

Advice #4 – Accept his offer to help you with your side business but think twice before using a date to his sister’s wedding as collateral.

Advice #5 – Investigate who your mystery neighbor really is. Don’t trust his word even if he’s the world’s best kisser.

If you listen to nothing else, pay attention to that last one. It’s the most important and will save you a lot of heartache.

Xo,

Most of all, we love hot heroes and quirky heroines that make us laugh, and we hope you do, too.

This series absolutely works for me. It has the feels, the giggles and the heat so perfectly balanced. And Wyatt describing the town as Stars Hollow is so stuck in my head and has just added to the magic for me. And the buzz wheel blog just makes me want to pack up and move into the world.

Of course the Bailey family is awesome and I love them all to pieces and if you read the first book you know Brooklyn's fiance was a tool no one liked. But damn he was such a dick. Luckily the family banded together to help her over her heartbreak and misery.

And then there was Wyatt. Hmmm I have to admit I am a little reserved about my feelings for him. He was perfect for Brook but I kind of felt he needed to put more effort into himself which I know is weird but he just felt like he left a lot of unfinished business in his wake.

But the writing was so good and the characters were great and the story as a whole was awesome and of course it has left me absolutely dying for the next book in the series to find out which twin owns the baby. Can't wait!

I am not really sure why I put off reading this book. I mean I seriously love Sarina Bowen and I really enjoyed the first book in the series, then I HAD to dive into the third one but for some reason I just wasn’t overly motivated to read this one. I think part of it was I had this idea of who I thought Braht and Ash were and I wasn’t a fan at all. But then I had a series challenge from one of my GoodReads groups and this was one of the books picked.

And I have to say my idiocy just keeps being proven. This book has been nothing but awesome. Braht is one of the best book boyfriends I have read this year and Ash is so much more than I thought she would be. Plus we are getting a little bit of background for book three. And even though it isn’t entirely necessary for reading the third book it was really great to get it.

As always the book was full of laugh out loud moments and some hot chemistry. But it also had a really good story line outside of the romance that kept me flipping the pages to find out how all those threads were going to be tied up. And I can honestly say they were all tied up perfectly.

But seriously Braht is the ideal new age book boyfriend and I am so glad that I went back and read this book. Thanks Nik.

Excerpt:
“Hi—hello,” she said, stepping forward but not out of the way, drawing my attention.

She was still staring at me, her face still pale, but her eyes had turned searching instead of stunned.

“I—” She stopped herself, swallowing, her gaze dropping to the front of my coat, a cute little frown furrowing her eyebrows. In the next moment, she was pulling off the glove of her right hand. Abruptly, she shoved the ungloved fingers toward me, returning her eyes to mine. “I’m Mona.”

I suppressed my disbelief at her small action before it could break my outward mask of calm. I wasn’t calm. Just to be clear, I was the opposite of calm.

The fact that she was introducing herself to me now meant that she thought I was too stupid to figure out her lies over the last two-and-a-half-fucking years. She was arguably one of the smartest people in the world, after all. To her, people like me must seem like housebroken pets. So it shouldn’t have surprised me. But it did. The tension and tightness around my ribs reappeared, squeezing uncomfortably.

Dropping my attention to her bare hand, I pressed my lips into a tighter line, dismissing the way my pulse jumped at the sight of her wrist, the olive tone of her skin under the yellow string lights overhead. Glaring at her outstretched offering, I considered telling her to go to hell.

I considered it, but I wouldn’t.

I didn’t trust myself to speak, that was reason number one.

The other reason was harder to explain, or use as a justification, or admit to myself. Staring at her hand, I braced against a sudden flare of hunger. She might consider me a lower life-form, but that didn’t change the fact that I wanted to touch her. I wanted to touch her more than I wanted to tell her to go to hell, and that was fucking pitiful.

But there it was.

Acting on the compulsion, I lifted my right hand and tugged off the ski glove, sliding my warm palm against her much colder one. Her hand felt good in my hand, the right weight, the right size, the right texture, and I inhaled freezing air.

Mona also seemed to suck in a slow but expansive breath as our hands touched, held. This brought my eyes back to hers in time to see her lashes flutter. Pink colored her previously pale cheeks. The sound of the wailing wind, the sting of the air and frost momentarily melted away, leaving just her, her soft skin warming against mine, her beautiful face filling my vision.

So beautiful.

She really was. She was stunning. I hated that she was still so beautiful to me.

“Tell me, Audrey,” he murmured softly in my ear, “what’s one habit you wish you could break?”
Half a dozen things other flashed through my mind—using a fork and knife for my pizza, flossing my teeth at night while watching TV in bed, other things that irritated my ex. Maybe the biggest habit I needed to break was falling for the wrong men, but even that wasn’t a habit. Once. It happened once. I just happened to do it Olympic-style, and lost everything.
I bit my lip—another habit—before blurting out, “I wish I was more spontaneous.”
Once my life didn’t go to plan with my parents’ death, I made damn sure I planned the rest. It hadn’t worked out. Was it karma? Fate? The gods laughing at me?
“You seemed pretty… free-spirited earlier.”
Was this flirting? “Well, you know,” I laughed uneasily. “What happens in Vegas…”
My earlier show in the lobby with the champagne bottle was the craziest I’d probably acted since… well, ever. I couldn’t deny that it was liberating.
Maybe I needed to be a little wilder.
Maybe I needed to have a fling.
Maybe I needed to remind myself that one of the hottest men in the world was sitting close enough to irradiate my brain cells and make me think naughty thoughts.
The taxi wasn’t so small that we needed to sit hip-to-hip and shoulder-to-shoulder.  His breath was hot at the top of my ear, and I knew that if I just turned my head and tilted my chin…
I shook my head slightly, unable to even look him in the eye. I didn’t have the guts. Dev wasn’t an adolescent boy anymore. Now he probably dated supermodels and movie stars. And me? I had no game. Hell, I’d already lost a few turns in the Game of Life.
“What about you?” I asked him as the car stopped.
 “What about me?” he replied.
He pressed closer, reminding me that I needed to get out of the car before he could. I wriggled over, trying to keep my skirt down and my shoes from slipping off.
Then I made the mistake of turning my head and meeting his gaze, like a kid who can’t help but look at the sun during an eclipse. His lips curved as he leaned his body into mine to make for the door.
My voice was needlessly breathless when I asked him, “Do you have a habit you wish you could stop?”
“Compulsive kissing.”

Crazy Daisy
Author: Maggie Adams
Genre: Military, Contemporary Romance
Cover Designer: Crystal Creations
Release Date: February 26, 2019

Daisy Jones has loved Gideon McElroy her entire life. Painfully shy, she had lived for the summers spent on the small island near Wisconsin at her grandpa’s cabin, when Gideon would come to stay with his grandfather, the Colonel. While the old men reminisced on happier times, Daisy would follow Gideon like a puppy, thrilled just to be in his presence. When he enlisted, she was heartbroken but took solace in the fact that he would still come to visit his aging grandfather when time allowed.

Fate had other plans. When his grandfather passed on, and Gideon didn’t attend the funeral, Daisy knew he was gone forever. She married, had a child, and tried not to think of Gideon or what had become of him.

Fifteen years have come and gone. Daisy, now a widow, is the veterinarian on the island. She sees to the animals of the tiny town and lives a simple life. But when rumors fly that a strange man is living on the Colonel’s land, she makes it her duty to investigate.

Gideon McElroy has come home to die. He knows he should have left this earth back in Afghanistan, not stitched back together to satisfy some damn surgeon’s “God complex.” The scars left behind have given him a grotesque appearance, a good reason to stay to himself. Between his appearance, the locked fence, and Samson, his large Mastiff, he’s confident in his solitary existence until he exits this world.

But he never counted on “Crazy Daisy” and her determination to drag him back into life.

She glanced around. Nothing much had changed except the large exercise machine in the corner facing the window. All the books, the old rugs, were in place; even the chess set was still in front of the window. It even smelled the same – slightly moldy, but redolent with the cherry vanilla tobacco the Colonel had smoked, and the Pine-Sol he had used to clean everything.

“Gideon? Where are you?” Daisy walked through the kitchen toward the back of the cabin. Perhaps he had been hurt. In concern, she quickened her steps. As she neared the bathroom, there was what sounded like a groan. Truly worried now, she opened the bathroom door and stood stock still.

Gideon McElroy was stark naked and hard, his cock in his hand.

“What the fuck? Woman, are you crazy?”

She heard him yell, but she was transfixed. Most of his left side was crisscrossed with scars, like he had been in a fire. Even his groin and chest looked like a roadmap. The beard obstructed his neck and jawline, but the scars continued up the side of his face and into his hairline.

And he was pissed.

Daisy mumbled an apology and frantically searched for a towel. She spotted it on the vanity base and threw it at him, backing out of the room as he tied the towel around his waist and advanced on her as she hurried down the hall into the living room.

She held her hands up to ward him off and began to babble. “I’m sorry; I thought, well, the dog was missing, and the door popped open and I wasn’t sure if you were hurt, or even here and I wanted to…” She tripped on the leg of the large armchair and fell into it. The sun was completely blocked from her sight as Gideon closed the distance between them. For a moment, she thought this must be what Belle felt like when the Beast got in her face. She could feel his breath against her cheek.

“Now I know you’re not blind,” he snarled. “But are you deaf and dumb? I told you to leave and not come back. To stay away. Now what part didn’t you understand? Or maybe you’re just crazy like people in town say?”

That hurt. She had thought the name was because she was crazy enough to take on the local VA hospital when her David couldn’t get help with the PTSD he had suffered from after Afghanistan; not that she was, well, crazy. Tears began to fall, and she cursed inwardly. She hated that she cried when she was angry. It was a sign of weakness to her mind.

“Fuck! Don’t start the waterworks.” Gideon flung himself away from her. “I don’t care why you are here, I just want you gone.” He looked around the room. “Where the hell’s Samson? How did you get past him, anyway?”

“I, er, I don’t know. He wasn’t here. That’s why I thought something was wrong.” She wiped her tears with her coat sleeve. “I heard what sounded like a moan in the back, and I came down the hall to make sure you or Samson weren’t hurt.”

Gideon eyes lit on the basket of goodies Daisy had brought. “You’re the fuckin’ welcome wagon?”

“No! Um, well, yes, I guess, in your case. I needed to make sure Samson had, um, his shots and was chipped, so I brought the basket and some of the cookies you liked when we were kids.” Daisy shrugged. Now that she thought about it, that did sound kind of lame - here’s some cookies. Remember me?

He quirked an eyebrow and picked up the taser. “And if I didn’t cooperate, you were going to taser me into accepting the basket?”

“No!” she laughed. “The dog,” but as soon as she said it, she knew she was in trouble.

“You were going to taser my DOG?” he roared, advancing on her once again.

So that was one hell of a long month I had to wait and I thought when I picked up Space that it would take me a bit to get back into the story but nope first page, first sentence I was back in that room with Mona feeling Abram being pulled out of her reach. And I was dying to know what happened next.

But obviously I can't tell you that. Sorry. What I can tell you is it will leave you just as desperate for part three in the series as Motion did for this one.

Abram is such a sweetheart and such a jerk and I got it. But omg Mona. My heart breaks for Mona. She is so smart and amazing but she is also so alone. I thought, or maybe I hoped that her brother was there for her in some way but damn was he self centered. And I can only hope that there will be some closure or probably more accurately some show of care or consideration for Mona from her siblings in the next book.

Although I have to admit the ending of this book has my stomach in a ball of knots dying to see where this is all going to go. I mean there must be something coming or we wouldn't need another book and now I have to wait another freaking long month to find out what's going to happen. Luckily I have faith that if Penny breaks me I will come out the other side smiling.

Now I just have to wait. And in the words of Inigo Montoya

Excerpt

Brogan had intentionally given me a glimpse into himself by expressing his feelings in words he’d never shared with another living soul. But in that moment, when his eyes met mine, he offered me something else.
Likely unaware he’d even done so.
He gave me a piece of his vulnerability. His pain. A sliver of the hidden humiliation that he kept buried beneath a painted canvas. Covered in graffiti. Locked behind years of loss and doubt. It crossed his brow in shallow valleys of hesitation and colored his cheeks in raw insecurity.
He was open. Closed off. Pushing me away while desperately trying to hold me close.
It was too much to process at once, leaving me immobile, grounded in place. The only thing I could do was open my mouth and give him honesty. “Your words…they make my chest hurt. As I read them, I breathed them in, and they burrowed themselves next to my heart. Took up residence within my lungs. They’re powerful enough to keep me safe, yet just as capable of destroying me.”
“Mercy…”
“They make my eyes burn. Every vowel, every period. Every syllable you wrote and verse you formed did something to me that I’ve never experienced. I’ve never read something so beautiful, something that literally brought tears to my eyes.”
“Mercy, that’s enough.” Beneath the stern tone and harsh shell lay a boy who couldn’t accept my praise. “I didn’t do it for compliments. You said you didn’t know me, so I’m showing you who I am. You think I’m using you to kill time until Jessica comes back, and I’m trying to prove to you that I’m not. I don’t need your approval. I need you.”
Under his intense scrutiny, I became fully aware of my state of undress.
“I’m, uh… I’m going to put on some pants.” I took a few steps backward, holding my shirt down in the front.
“Hey, Mercy? Could you do me a favor?”
I stopped and held his stare.
“Next time you hang out with your ex, can you tell him that if he ever contacts me again, he’ll wish he’d never learned how to type? Thanks.”
“He did what? He texted you?”
He went right back to browning the meat, continuing as if he hadn’t just dropped a bomb at my feet. “Email, but yeah. Same thing. I think he got off on telling me that I’m runner-up. I guess you told him that you’re waiting to see if he lied about where he was that night? And if he was telling the truth, you plan to get our marriage annulled?”
“He twisted what I said.”
“Then I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t give a shit what he had to say.” He moved the pan off the burner. “Although, I don’t think he liked it too much when I told him I hoped he enjoyed the taste of my cum, because I fucked your pussy so hard and so deep it’ll be a while before it’s all out.”
I was shocked. And mortified. And incredibly turned on by his possessiveness.
“Did you really?”
His smile became visible in his eyes first, but half a second later, it was drawn across his face.
