The gun dropped from my face, revealing an emerald gaze just as intense. Her eyes, the color of the budding leaves behind her, sparkling in the morning light. A breeze caught her long, black curls, sending a strand across a pair of succulent lips pressed into a thin line of scrutiny. She wore her trademark black tank top, and—dear Lord and everything holy—based on the erect nipples, no bra. A pair of faded jeans revealed hints of tanned skin behind ripped holes. Strappy sandals covered her feet over cherry-red toenails as electric as the green in her eyes.
My thoughts were suddenly short-circuiting between the snarling guard dogs at her ankles, simply waiting on a command to attack, and the pair of headlights pulling my gaze like a beacon to her chest.
I didn’t like this. I prided myself on never being thrown off my game, and I was. Undoubtedly, one-hundred percent, thrown off my game.
I cleared my throat, squared my shoulders, and said the first thing that came to mind. “You got a permit for that cannon, Miss Harper?”
“You got a warrant to be on my land?”
“Don’t need a warrant just to chat.”
She shoved the nine millimeter into the band of her pants with an ease that verified her comfort level with it.
“Did you call?” She asked, although it wasn’t a question as much as a thinly veiled message that she didn’t like me showing up unannounced.
“Are you busy?”
“Yes.” The corner of her lip curved as she breezed past me, an extra sway of attitude in those hips.
Damn the woman.
Six beady, black eyes laced with warning glared at me as they passed by, falling into step behind the flowing black hair of their master. I waited a beat, watching the captain and her army descend down the pathway, each solider in their designated spots.
Sunny Harper.
A leader of the pack.

I signed up to review this before the blurb was release just because I have a massive fan girl crush on Rebecca Jenshak’s writing. And I was super excited to get my hands on any of her words that I could. But I have to be honest and say that when I read the blurb I was reluctant. And if I had read the blurb first I probably wouldn’t have jumped on this quite as quickly. I would have one clicked it, but I would have been selective when I was brave enough to jump in.
All that said, the things I was dreading, just never happened. And I am so glad I didn’t focus on the blurb and had to read this now. As expected it is written in the perfect Rebecca Jenshak way and I was hooked from the first page. It's told in dual point of view but in large chunks of each person's so we only get the one side of each event.
Finn was amazing. I fell in love with him from the beginning. There he was being the perfect fiancé, only to be ditched at the alter. And even though he was devastated, he didn't do anything stupid and he was such a genuinely good guy. I kept picturing him with this adorable Bengal kitten, seriously is there anything hotter than a man doting on a baby animal?
Adele was awesome too. I liked that even though it sucked she did the right thing. And when she realised she had made the wrong choice she didn't run and cry. She pulled up her big girl panties and started in on plan B. But mainly I loved that she realised she was living her life in a safe bubble and went about popping it so she could live her life to the fullest.
The chemistry was sparking off the
pages. And Finn was such a great hero. He loved hard and he went balls to the
wall to prove it, even when he thought it was pointless. I really enjoyed this
book so much. I would love to see Foster get a book of his own. But for now I
guess it's back to praying for Rebecca to write faster.

There are things that just shouldn’t happen—like me being in love with
my sister’s best friend. Still, that didn't stop me from spending our
childhood telling her just that.
Of course, she doesn't believe me. I'm just the annoying guy she’s known all her life.
But then she begged...
Not like that, but her asking for my help was still music to my ears. I
stopped listening when she formed those beautiful words—Ryan, I need
you—and came to somewhere around a broken hip and a last minute date to
her ex’s wedding.
I accepted, not even sure to what exactly, but she can always count on me. I’ll only need to remember three things:

This is the first book I have read from Amanda Faye. I read the blurb for it and thought it sounded fun. I didn't realise it was only a short story, but honestly that just added to the appeal. I literally picked it up and read it before bed.
Ryan
has been in love with Cris since they were young, only Cris thought he was just
messing around. And his affection and declarations of love just became part of
their banter. Which really connected me to them as a couple. I could feel their years of friendship and history in every interaction. The jump from friends to more felt like I had waited forever for it while I watched in unfold. The fact that his sister was always aware of where they were both at and was all in was a nice bonus.
For
a reasonably short novel, I didn't feel like I missed out on anything. The
chemistry was hot, but the emotion came across just as strongly. And I read the
whole time with a really happy feeling and the urge to jump into more books by
Amanda Faye so I'm off to check out her catalog on GoodReads.
