I saw the promo for this and was dying to get my hands on it. And then it landed on my kindle and I wasn't really in the mood for a dark romance. So I picked up a short, little, cute fluff, palette cleanser that I could read between running errands. And it took me 3 days to read it. But this morning I woke up and couldn't wait to start this. And then I struggled to put it down.
First I want to say that this story had a lot of things that I would hate in a contemporary romance but couldn't get enough of in this book. There was so much going on and yet it all flowed so naturally that I couldn't put it down because I had to know how it was going to play out in every instance.
Elena was such a sweet, mistreated heroine I instantly loved her and wanted her to get everything she deserved. But there were so many glimmers of backbone and surprise actions that made her even more likeable.
Meanwhile Callen was a whole parade of red flags. On top of the whole psychopath thing. But he was my favourite shade of possessive, jealous, protective, over the top hero that I love. And he was so all in for Elena and I loved how they loved each other exactly as they were.
I'm so glad I stumbled across this author and I can't wait for the next release.
