I have been both dying to get my hands on this and super nervous to read it. Friends to lovers when they are older and one has been married with kids always has me expecting a lot of pining and an imbalance that's awkward and makes me either sad or stabby so I wasn't sure.

Especially since the breakdown of Archer's marriage wasn't particularly anyone's fault. So, it wasn't like we could hate his ex-wife and see how he needed consoling. So, when Sydney first packed up her life and went to help Archer I kind of thought she was an idiot. But as the story played out, I completely appreciated how she literally put her feelings aside and showed up as a friend. And the fact she was such a girl's girl, I couldn't fault her.

Which ordinarily would cast Archer in the role of the bad guy, but he just wasn't. He genuinely loved Syd, he just didn't want to cross that line, so he went about his life with her as his best friend and didn't realise she was wanting more. And it was nice that all the adults put the children first and acted like adults.

So, I guess, long story short I really shouldn't have worried because this author has never done us wrong and she nailed friends to lovers. I can't wait for the next book.
