I picked this up figuring I’d read for a minute while the kids were distracted, read that first sentence, knew I needed more time and promptly closed my kindle. I had forgotten how badly Aly Martinez grabs me by the throat and just doesn’t let go. I think most of her books have been solid 5 star reads and this one definitely joined them.
Lofton had my heart breaking from that first chapter and she just kept right on cracking pieces off. Everything about her was just so sweet and caring and selfless, it really didn’t fit with the diva I anticipated. But even more so was how she cared about the people in her circle. I couldn’t get enough of her.
And then along came Devon and I so wanted to kick him and find Lofton someone better. Until he started to drop the walls and give Lofton pieces of himself. And once he let her in he was so all in and so all about Lofton I couldn’t help but fall for him too.
But oh the feels were real and the rollercoaster I went on while reading this. They were so hot together yet there was so much depth to their relationship. Everything about the progression of their relationship felt genuine and organic and I loved it. These Guardian guys and their ladies are awesome and I’m hoping that we got a bit of a teaser as to what’s to come.
