I read the tropes and blurb for this a while ago and for some reason my brain decided this book was going to be a romantic comedy. And then I was introduced to Crew and realised I was going to be feeling all the feels. Because I know too many of the Crew's of the world.
Crew was so closed off and on top of his childhood trauma and broken attachment he also had OCD and anxiety. And I loved him. But more than that, I loved that he knew and accepted these things as part of himself but he also actively worked to make his life work. Even though he had decided he was broken, he still tried to improve himself.
Emmie was beyond beautiful. She didn't expect perfect. She saw Crew as he was and loved him for everything he was. And there was a lot to love. On top of that she had her own issues that she was dealing with and she never used them as an excuse to feel sorry for herself. She just woke up each morning and chose to live her best life.
Everything about this book made me feel. Thankfully there were also a few laugh out loud moments and so much sweetness and happiness. And we got an adorable ending.
