Sometimes my stupidity even surprises myself. Like when I pick up a book by an author I love for making me feel all the feels then I'm surprised the story put me through the wringer. I read the blurb forever ago and was like “yes, I have to read this” then I left it. Then here I am looking at books to read and decide the new adult sports romance should be a fun read. Umm really? Wtf was I thinking when I was surprised by my tears.
This book was so real. And as a character Jaden felt like I could reach through my kindle and wrap her up in a hug. Watching her struggle through so many different things. Some of them minor and some of them so damn major I couldn't even help but feel like I was right there with her, watching her figure it out made me love her more.
Bryson, I really didn't expect to fall for as hard as I did. Our first introduction to him wasn't great. And it was through some seriously clouded glasses of Jaden, which we don't fully understand until later. But geez that boy stood up and he just kept standing. There were moments when I could have excused him folding a little with his own family dynamics in the mix but he just stood taller.
Honestly as a couple these two were beautiful. And as individuals they were even more amazing. Like I said, I don't know why I expected this to be a light fluffy new adult romance but what I got was so much more. And despite all the feels I went through I came out with a huge smile on my face and a slightly giddy feeling.
