I received a copy of this front netgalley and I was super excited because that blurb was screaming “read me now.” And then I realised how quickly I had to read this, followed by oh crap this is book 3 in the series, and I haven't read book 2. So, I picked up book 2, because my fomo made me.

Full disclosure, I didn't love book 1, which I hate for me, but I find Sara Ney very hit and miss. But I will always read them because I either love them or am a little ambivalent, but I never hate them. Anyway book 2 I liked more than book 1 and book 4 I was loving. Thought for sure it was my favourite and I knew where it was going then if just kind of slowly sailed off a cliff.

Layla and Hayes had wicked hot chemistry and I loved their interactions. It felt natural and flirty and so fun. And then you've got Benny and I couldn't get enough of her. She was the perfect 9 year old and damn did she remind me of my girls. She knew what her dad needed, she knew what she wanted and she had decided Layla fit the bill.

And like I said I had thoughts on where this was going. I was just wrong and the direction it did go I didn't love. I don't necessarily have anything against the detour this took, I just didn't feel it. And it pulled me out of the lust fog I was feeling with Hayes and Layla and I wasn't ready.

On a side note book 1 and 2 felt like the same series, book 3 felt like a standalone that didn't have much to do with the previous 2. So I really didn't need to read book 2 before this but here we are.
