I hate when I screw myself over and only have myself to blame. New Maya Hughes book? Sign me up. Did I think to read the blurb first, or idk check if it's the first in a freaking trilogy? Seriously, how do I do this to myself? I can't wait for 2 more books? And early 2027? That's like next year. As in not able to start right now. But I'm so invested.
Lilah is such an amazing character. Her strength and determination make me feel like the biggest slacker. And I got her desperation to be accepted by her family so much I had to take a moment. I literally couldn't fault her for a second. She fell hard and fast and let it carry her but she never changed her goals or stopped being practical and so sweet. Gah I love her.
Mason can eat a bag of dicks. Sorry, not sorry. Don't get me wrong, I am 99% sure Maya is going to make me love him by the end of the trilogy. Assuming the wait doesn't kill me. But once we got an idea of what happened to their first beautiful summer I knew he was going to continue to be a stupid boy. And on top of that he was a coward. Ok, look I've sat back and thought about it and maybe that's a little harsh. I get it. He's young and he's in a really tough position but geez kid use your freaking words ffs.
Look, I know he had reasons. And a few of them were valid, very mature reasons for the things he did. He just kept screwing it up with his lack of using his big boy words and his spine being made of silly string. I also hate that the last little bit of cliff for us to dangle from is so not the 30 seconds to download the next book, I would have liked it to be. But for now I guess we will continue waiting. I hate waiting
