When I saw a new book by this author, I absolutely had to get my hands on it. So, I signed up without reading the blurb and honestly, I'm not a fan of the whole amnesia trope. And then it landed on my kindle while my life is literally a chaotic little bag of cats and I had a bit of trouble staying focused.
Needless to say, the first few pages I was wondering if I should admit defeat and try again later. Until suddenly I realised I couldn't put it down. I was so invested in both Grant and Mercy. And for the first half to two thirds of the book, we only got Mercy's POV. But the way Grant loved her just came through so vividly I was absolutely obsessed with him.
Mercy was so strong and so strong willed. Watching her struggle through her own life had me in tears a few times. But then we have the vision of Grant then and his actions now and Mercy trying to navigate her own memories and his feelings and god it was some really beautiful, talented writing.
Seriously, I could feel Grant's love for Mercy through the pages. And the angst was so real but in a comforting way, which makes no sense. This whole story was so superbly written that I feel as though I literally lived it with them.
