I’m not really sure what I was expecting when I opened this book.  I have read a few of the hockey books from Toni Aleo and they were pretty hot and steamy and I read the blurb for this and it sounded interesting so I immediately put my hand up for an ARC. And I can honestly say what I got definitely wasn’t what I was expecting.

Firstly I have to say, the world building in this was awesome,  the whole concept of the book has me so intrigued to read more and see where everyone is going to go. And I am desperately hoping that the next books in the series are going to be based on some of the characters we have already been introduced to.

Rebekah was kind of a hard character to relate to, in some instances she felt a lot younger than she was due to her isolation but I felt so sorry for her that I couldn’t help but like her.  She is a mortal born into a family of immortals who treat her like a science experiment while trying to make her immortal. So her life is one big painful experiment after another. So as much as she occasionally annoyed me with juvenile comments she would then have some painful medical experiment performed on her and I was right back to wanting to hug her while chopping her father up with a blunt chainsaw.

Killian was everything you could want in a hero. BUT I seriously don’t think we saw enough of him. I didn’t really feel their connection and I can’t even explain why I feel that without putting in some major spoilers so I am just going to say that what I actually saw of him I loved but I really wanted a whole heap more. More romance, more sex and more sexy hero.

Overall I really was sucked into the Works world and I am definitely going to follow the series especially is the next book is Oceanus or Cyrus. If you’re a fan of paranormal this is the book for you.
